1. Annika goes after Zed to try to sort out the misunderstanding that has occurred between them and finds herself on a journey that she did not expect to be on.

2. Annika gets in contact with Pauline and finds out how her most trusted friend Stefan is coming with the stress of Annika being away.

3. Annika sends letters to Ellie stating how homesick she is and why she wants to go home causing Ellie to become an emotional wreck herself.

4. Frau Edeltraut having trouble understanding why her daughter seems to be unhappy and upset making Frau feel more nervous than she already is.

5. Hermann is furious to find one of his horses missing from the barn and soon finds out that Zed stole the horse and ran off with it.

6. Zed arrives to the gypsies and is shocked to find out about the conflict that the gypsies are having between one another.

1. Why did the Ibbotson decide to make so many conflicts in the book occur all at the same time instead of separately?

3. Why did the author decide to write the book in third person? Wouldn't it be better to let Annika actually express her point of view through first person?
